Carlson Truck Outfitters Accessories – Step Rails for your Pickup

Have you ever come home with your new truck and wanted the family to go for a ride to show it off, and as they struggle to climb in the realization occurs that if anyone is going to ride with you that you’ll need to add some steps to your truck.

1)    Truck Steps – these are generally the most affordable, and simplest steps. They’re designed to attach to the frame of your truck under a single door, so you can choose to outfit the whole cab with them, or just the doors that your kids enter from.  Installation is simple and straightforward, and the steps are made of stainless steel or aluminum, so they’re relatively impervious to corrosion.

2)    “Nerf” bars – tubes that run the length of the side of your truck, and are actually taken in design from dirt track cars, where they were first installed to protect from “nerfs”, small collisions that could damage the car’s bodywork and impede performance.  In truck/SUV applications, they can protect the rocker panels and doors from dents and dings caused by rocks, and make a handy step for anyone entering the vehicle.

3)    Running Boards – like nerf bars, running boards generally run down the length of the vehicle between the wheel wells.  In a pickup, they don’t only allow for easier entry, but make it easier to reach over the side of the bed for loading and unloading. They’re usually made of steel, with a fiberglass shell that can be painted to match the vehicle.
